love affair

so i have a love/hate relationship with texas, which i’m sure you’ve figured out by now is where i’m from.

i love: barbecue, tex-mex, country music, looking up at the stars, bluebonnets, driving on long road trips with good friends, saying “y’all” every 3rd word, the state pride, bluebell, my family that lives here, the warm weather, feeling like you live in a different country, getting to use the trump line “well everything is bigger in texas”, that we can secede from the union, and cactus beer (it’s good, i promise).

i hate: the uneducated, inarticulate, uninformed masses flooding my facebook feed talking about how obama is going to ruin the world with his healthcare plan. they are the reason why people make fun of republicans*. i’m politically indifferent, but there are certain topics that really fire me up and healthcare is one of them (along with abortion). i just don’t see why claiming that the government is trying to take away our first born children makes any sense. get a clue.

*both my father and brother are staunch republicans, a fact which makes me cringe sometimes. like, really republican. like i have more than 50 firearms in my home, my dad seriously thinks he needs to form his own militia, and they cry over bush being out of office. gross.
